Cheating (Kinda, Sorta, Not Really)

This is my third holiday season at my current job. The first year, I signed up for their KWIC program (Keeping Weight In Check).

Essentially, you start with a pot of $500. Everyone who wants to join adds $10 to the pot. You weigh-in before Thanksgiving and after New Year's. If you have gained weight, you lose your money. If you have stayed the same or lost weight, you get your fair share of the pot.

Last year, I didn't do it. I was lazy, whatever. I just skipped it. But this year, I forced myself to do it again because I need some motivation to exercise and eat better.

Usually, I'm around 170 lbs. Just above a healthy BMI. And this morning, when I hopped on the scale, I was right around that. So I showered, dressed in my heaviest jeans and put two layers on top. Then I chugged as much water as I could in the car before I got out, kept my fleece on and my car keys in my pocket as I stepped on the scale. 174.

Normally, I'd see 174 or 5 and think, Okay, I have to cut out the sweets for a while, I don't want to venture into 180 territory again (where I've been a few times before and let me tell you, the pants were tight).

But today, I thought, YES! I can beat 174 when I come back to weigh-in in January. Lol. Oh, what a different perspective can do.

Cheater! They make us empty our pockets and take off our shoes for our 'Hold it for the Holidays.' My goal it to be at least 5 lbs less than what it was when I weigh-in in January.
